Skate Park’s website update
I have had great fun this week creating a new website for One Minet Park, a Skate Park in Saffron Walden, Essex. Their old site was a static HTML site which was tricky to update. The new site is written in WordPress which not only means it is easy to update but we can take advantage of all the great SEO and tools and plugins that WordPress provides.
So the site can now boast the latest weather reports, a search option, RSS for those wanting to keep up with updates to the site as well as a great list of events coming up including Opera!
Plugins
We are using some nice plugins on this site to bring in the weather updates and NextGen Gallery for displaying the gallery photos which show some of the construction of the park.
The News items appear on the slider in the home page, which came with the theme. Each news item is a post and they are given a specific category if we want them to appear on the home pager slider. Thus the news items are very flexible and older items will be put into an archive with past events. We felt it was important to keep past news items and events on the site as this is helpful to provide a history of activity for the site.
Analytics
The site is running Google analytics so we can check which pages are most popular and whether all the relevant information is being found.
